NYC Holiday Markets 2026: The Dates, the Hours and How to Do Them Right
Bryant Park opens Wednesday, Grand Central follows November 9, and Union Square and Columbus Circle are on the way. Every confirmed date and hour for New York's holiday markets this season — and which one suits which kind of afternoon.
New York's holiday season doesn't start with a parade or a tree. It starts the morning the first wooden kiosk goes up in Bryant Park — and this year that's Wednesday, October 28. From then until Christmas Eve, four markets take turns being the city's favorite place to buy a gift you didn't plan on, eat something hot out of a paper boat, and pretend Midtown is a village in the Alps.
Here's every confirmed date and hour for 2026, which market fits which kind of afternoon, and how to do them without spending the whole day shoulder-to-shoulder.
Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park
Opens: Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at noon
Holiday Shops: through January 3, 2027 — Monday to Friday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., weekends 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Rink: through February 28, 2027, daily 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (until midnight from November 19 to January 3)
Where: Bryant Park, Sixth Avenue between 40th and 42nd Streets
The biggest and the first, and the one that sets the tone for the season. The Holiday Shops — run by Urbanspace — fill the park's allées and terraces with glass-walled "jewel box" kiosks of artisans from New York and around the world. At the center is a 17,000-square-foot rink with free admission: bring your own skates and it costs nothing; rentals are available on site. Rinkside, The Lodge serves food and cocktails in an open-air après-skate setup, and the private igloos come back for groups of up to eight.
Bryant Park is the market to do on a weeknight after work, when the rink lights are on, the office towers glow around it, and the crowds are thinner than on any weekend afternoon.
Grand Central Holiday Fair
Dates: November 9 to December 24, 2026
Hours: November 9–December 16, Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; December 17–23, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily; Christmas Eve 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving Day.
Where: Vanderbilt Hall, Grand Central Terminal, 89 East 42nd Street
The only one of the classics that's fully indoors — 6,000 square feet of handmade jewelry, pottery and art under the chandeliers of Vanderbilt Hall. It's smaller and calmer than the outdoor markets, and it's the obvious answer on a sleeting December afternoon. It's also about a ten-minute walk east along 42nd Street from Bryant Park, which makes the two an easy pair.
Union Square Holiday Market
2026 dates: not yet announced. Last year it ran November 13 to December 24, and it traditionally opens in mid-November.
Where: the southwest corner of Union Square Park, at 14th Street and Broadway
The most downtown of the bunch, with well over a hundred vendors and the loosest, most neighborhood feel — the place for the gift you'd actually want to receive yourself. It sits right on top of one of the city's busiest transit hubs, so arrive by subway and come early on weekends. We'll add the confirmed dates here as soon as they're announced.
Columbus Circle Holiday Market
2026 dates: not yet announced. Last year it ran December 2 to December 31.
Where: at the southwest entrance to Central Park, Columbus Circle
The latest to open and the shortest season, tucked against the park wall at the foot of Central Park. Pair it with a walk into the park on a cold, clear afternoon. Confirmed 2026 dates to come.
How to do the markets right
- Go early or go late, never at 2 p.m. on a Saturday. Weekday mornings and the last hour before close are the sweet spots at every market.
- Do Bryant Park and Grand Central together. Ten minutes apart on 42nd Street — one outdoors, one in — and the indoor one is your backup if the weather turns.
- Eat at the market, shop at the market, then leave. The food stalls are half the point, but the aisles are narrow; don't try to browse with a full tray.
- Bring your own skates to Bryant Park. Admission is free; the rentals and the lockers are what cost money.
- Check hours the week of Christmas. Most markets stretch their hours in the last week and close early on Christmas Eve.
For six weeks a year, the city that never slows down builds itself a small wooden village and dares you to stroll through it.
Dates and hours confirmed with Bryant Park and Grand Central Terminal as of October 25, 2026. We'll update this guide as Union Square and Columbus Circle announce their 2026 seasons.
